Carlos Yamil (Guadalajara, 1991) es Licenciado en Comunicación y Artes Audiovisuales por el ITESO y cuenta con estudios en historia del cine por la UdeG.
En 2026 participó en la 13va edición del NY Portfolio Review con el proyecto Todo lo que he amado, lo he amado en una lengua imposible, realizado en conjunto con Luiza Kons. Su fotolibro Los objetos en el espejo están más cerca de lo que aparentan (2018-2021) fue finalista en el Premio de publicación latinoamericano La Luminosa - FELIFA (Edición XVIII) en Buenos Aires, Argentina y en enero de 2025, la serie fue elegida por la editora Emily Keegin para aparecer en el JRNL 23 de FotoFilmic, impreso en Canadá. Su trabajo fotográfico lo llevó a guiar talleres de fotografía contemporánea en MUPAG, Rayón 376 y en el Museo de Arte de Zapopan (MAZ). Su más reciente cortometraje de ficción-experimental, Sus ojos se movían (2025), se proyectó en diversas muestras de cine independiente, París, Londres, Nueva York y principalmente en México
En 2024 se integró al directorio de autores emergentes de fotografía contemporánea en México (PICS). En 2023 cursó el Seminario de Producción Fotográfica del Centro de la Imagen en la CDMX.
En 2017 fue jurado Mezcal en el FICG y su guion Playas Negras fue seleccionado para participar en un taller de la Vancouver Film School como parte de la competencia de guion en el GIFF. A lo largo de su trayectoria ha participado en diversos proyectos de cine documental y ficción, principalmente como director y editor, mostrando su trabajo en festivales como el FICM, Shorts México, Cinetoro en Colombia y Libre Cinema en Yucatán. Su trabajo fotográfico se ha expuesto en espacios como el centro de la imagen en cdmx.

His photobook *Objects in the Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear* (2018–2021) was a finalist for the Latin American publishing award La Luminosa - FELIFA (18th Edition) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in January 2025, the series was selected by editor Emily Keegin to appear in FotoFilmic’s JRNL 23, printed in Canada. His photographic work led him to lead contemporary photography workshops at MUPAG, Rayón 376, and the Zapopan Art Museum (MAZ). His most recent experimental fiction short film, *Sus ojos se movían* (2025), was screened at various independent film festivals in Paris, London, New York, and primarily in Mexico
